Registered Massage Therapy (RMT)
Massage therapy consists primarily of hands-on manipulation of the soft tissues of the body. A Registered Massage Therapist can treat muscles, connective tissue, tendons, ligaments and joints to optimize your health and movement.
Massage therapy treatment has a therapeutic effect on the body by acting on the muscular, nervous and circulatory systems. Physical impairment, pain, stress, insomnia and headaches can be relieved or prevented through the use of Massage Therapy.
Before a treatment, your Massage Therapist will review your personal health history with you. Assessments may be performed relating to your presenting complaint and will consist of various tests to determine the condition of your muscles and joints. A treatment plan will be proposed based on these assessments and health history.
Follow up visits
Your Massage Therapist will suggest follow up treatments based on your presenting complaint and treatment plan.
About the Practitioner(s) Frances James
Frances is a dedicated and qualified Registered Massage Therapist living and working in Toronto. Originally from Nova Scotia, Frances came to Toronto to work in the film and television industry as a special effects artist and stop-motion animation technician. After fifteen years in the industry she decided to move into a more nurturing, health-related field. “Why massage? It’s a question I’m often asked. I was always giving neck and shoulder massages to my coworkers, especially in the animation world. When several people recommended I pursue this as an option, I began to look into it seriously. In massage, I finally have the blend of art and science I was looking for. Sculpture and painting have given me excellent palpation skills and the ability to ‘visualize’ the muscles and bone.”
